BLUE RIVER REGULATORS
The Blue River Regulators were formed to provide an outlet for Western Action Shooting in southeast Nebraska. Our range is located 18 miles NW of Lincoln, NE. We hold regular monthly shoots on the 2nd Sunday, June through October. We will shoot the 1st Saturday in April due to Easter Sunday and on the 2nd Saturday in May due to Mother’s Day. Shooting fees are $10 for NCOWS members and $15 for non-NCOWS members, junior NCOWS members shoot free. Ammo required is approx. 75 pistol, 75 rifle and 25 shotgun. Please see “The Shootist” for exact time and dates.
We encourage new shooters to come out and join us. Dress as western as possible. Our stages involve 2 western style revolvers, 1 lever action rifle (pistol cartridge), and a side-by-side or pre-1899 pump shotgun. We also offer the “Working Cowboy” class which only requires 1 western style revolver and 1 lever action rifle (pistol cartridge). This is a great class for beginners and old timers alike. You can share guns or we will lend you what you need (bring own ammo 45LC/12ga.). The range has restroom facilities (outhouses) and several watering stations. Bring your own grub for lunch, we have a covered picnic shelter. The authentic look of the western era (1865-1899) is as important to our posse as the shooting. Membership in the Blue River Regulators is $20 the first year and $10 a year to renew. Membership in NCOWS is required before joining the club. We also strongly recommend membership in the NRA.
Our range is located 3 miles west & 4 miles north of Valparaiso, NE. Range is on northwest corner of the intersection of county roads 31 (north-south) and “F” (east-west). Valparaiso is approximately 18 miles Northwest of Lincoln, NE. From Interstate 80, take Highway 34 exit (401) and go west to Highway 79. Go North 14 miles to Valparaiso. Turn west on Highway 66 and go 3 miles to county road 31. Turn north 4 miles to county road “F”. Continue north 1/8 mile to the driveway.
